24 Dec 2010
FOR some 15 residents of an old folks home in Sg Buloh, having visitors means loads of fun and they look forward to this excitement to keep them going.
When they heard that LITRAK Group was organizing a lunch for them in conjunction with Christmas, they were thrilled.
LITRAK Group spent an afternoon with the residents of Maranatha Home recently, having lunch with the senior citizens with sing-along sessions in conjunction with the Christmas celebrations.
Dorrice Lee Cheng Siew, 72, who has been at the home for three years now, turned songbird for a day and rendered two songs to entertain the visitors and residents. She also participated with enthusiasm in a spot dance event.
Octogenarian Parvathy O.M. Krishnan Nair who has been with the home for just months was just too excited and overwhelmed with the turn of events for the day that she could not stop talking about how happy she was
Marinatha Home founder Jayabal Devid expressed his gratitude to Litrak Group for bringing happiness to the residents of the home. “This kind gesture will go a long way in making these senior citizens feel wanted and appreciated. The problem with most senior citizens is that they often feel neglected and unwanted and as we can see today, their enthusiasm in showing off their skills is testimony that they have a desire to be accepted within the community and a lead a very normal life within their capacity”, he said.
Present to give away the goodies to the senior citizens was Litrak Group Chief Operating Officer Richard Lim who said that it had become a practice for Litrak management to take time-off to be with the less fortunate for every major festival. “The senior management makes it a point to be to be with the less fortunate, as part of giving back to the community” he said.
Bank Rakyat, in supporting Litrak’s responsibility event sponsored some hampers to be given away to Maranatha Home.
